We ask that anyone interested sign up for all 4 workshops, if possible.

We will keep the group small to focus on the collective process.

Session 1:

Thursday, June 4, 5:00 – 8:00 pm

Defense of Territory

How do our stories take root in the space between the Colombian mangroves and Berlin's urban jungle?

We will start by connecting our migration journeys and biographies, seeing the body as a territory of support. We'll open our textile kits and begin our first experiments with natural dyes, linking our sensory memory to the land we inhabit and the plants we use.

Session 2:

Thursday, June 11, 5:00 – 8:00 pm

Construction of Social Fabric

Can we hack the city's rush by slowing down to the deep rhythms of Indigo?

This session is about the Colombian Pacific and the power of "doing much with little." Working with Indigo is a practice of patience; it's a pigment that teaches us to accept the dilation of time. We will bring this ancestral knowledge into the city to regain sovereignty over our own pace and build a collective fabric.

Session 3:

Thursday, June 18, 5:00 – 8:00 pm

Care of Biocultural Heritage

In what ways can embroidery and the fleeting nature of green dyes nourish our collective care?

We'll extract greens through heat and maceration, reflecting on how collective energy-much like this color-has an expiration date and needs to be tended to. We will use embroidery as a way to talk without words, turning upcycling and stitching into a real act of repair and political care for our shared heritage.

Session 4:

Thursday, June 25, 5:00 – 8:00 pm

New Imaginaries: How Can the Red of Achiote Bind Our Stories Together and Help Us Repair Our Future?

We'll use Achiote seeds as a "social coagulant" to join our voices and close the cycle. Through the repair and upcycling of our garments, we take back the thread of our own stories. This final stitch isn't just about fixing a piece of cloth; it's about thickening the ties between our urban lives and the ecosystems that sustain them.

This project is a collaboration between Upcycling Against the Machine, Radio Juntanza and Casa Múcura. The workshops are facilitated by Carmen Caro and Ika (Warrior Babe)
