Worldviews of the Amazon is a public event organized as part of the Amazon Week 2026, building on previous editions to create a space for dialogue between the public and Indigenous leaderships of the Amazon Rainforest.
Join us for a screening of a film shot in the Indigenous Territory of Jordão in the Brazilian state of Acre. The film is structured in three parts: Living Spirit, The Future of the Forest and How the Forest Communicates. The documentary follows the lives of Huni Kuin women and explores topics such as forest spirituality, intergenerational knowledge and the contemporary challenges faced by the rainforest and its populations.
Following the screening, there will be a dialogue with Indigenous leaders, including Bunkê Huni Kuin and Bu’u Kennedy (Ye’pá mahsã), as well as economist Sarah Siqueira. They will share their perspectives on cosmovisions, territory, art and resistance.
Through a combination of visual narrative and direct dialogue, the event aims to enhance understanding of Amazonian epistemologies and encourage reflection on alternative daily practices rooted in Indigenous knowledge and experience.
The event will be held in Portuguese and English, with simultaneous translation provided.
Bunkê Huni Kuin and Bu’u Kennedy (Ye’pá-Mahsã), in collaboration with Sarah Siqueira (Indigenous economist), Jaci Meinhold (Living Gaia), Artur Sgambatti Monteiro, Isadora Cardoso und Claudia Pinzón (Freie Universität Berlin).
