Law as Narrative and Tool

Rights of Nature are far more than just paragraphs; they are the expression of a radically different worldview. Together with journalist and author Elisabeth Weydt, we will dive deep into stories of resistance. Elisabeth has accompanied the struggles in the Intag Valley for years and knows that victory requires both: the courage for new legal frameworks and the persistence to use existing regulations as leverage against destruction.

In this workshop, we will focus on three key areas:

Cosmovision & Storytelling:

How can we use the power of narrative and the vision of interconnectedness to move beyond mere "resource conservation"?

We will practice a shift in perspective: How does our language change when we perceive the forest or the River Spree as actors with their own dignity and history?

Strategic Resistance & Advocacy:

The law often feels like a locked door to which only lawyers hold the key. We ask: How can civil society support existing cases and movements without being plaintiffs ourselves? How do we build leverage and pressure when the powerful are lacking "accountability"?

Berlin-Check:

Which German and EU laws can we already turn into shields if used strategically? We will draft concrete approaches for local ecosystems like the Spree or the Grunewald forest, linking existing environmental law with the vision of the Rights of Nature.

This workshop is a space for everyone who wants to help build our "collective root system." No legal background is required! However, if you are currently working on a case or considering one, you are especially welcome.

Join us as we learn how to transform the law from an instrument of power into a tool for liberation.
