The ESJ Learning Circle is a regular gathering where we practice and learn together in the context of social change. We recognize that transformation requires integrating the body as a site of both oppression and resistance. This is a participatory space in which we center the collective wisdom of the group and share responsibility for caring for the circle. During the gatherings, we explore a specific topic over the course of several sessions by sharing somatic and embodied practices from the ESJ framework and beyond, as well as questions and resources.

The circle moves between open and closed phases. Some gatherings serve as open entry points for new participants and shared exchange. Others remain closed, allowing those involved to build trust and deepen their collective work. It’s a space for learning, experimenting, and failing, with the goal of working across differences with care, playfulness, and a commitment to collective liberation and relational transformation.

For whom?

Queer and 2SLGBTQIA+ centered, open to all. No prior experience needed—just curiosity for somatic practices.

The Embodied Social Justice Learning Circle exists since November 2024. It was initiated by Lo Höckner—a white, non-binary somatic practitioner and choreographer who engages in different forms of activism—and became a participatory space with shared responsibilities and care for the gatherings. The Circle grew out of a wish to collectively build frameworks and support systems that address what suppresses us and to find resources through connection.
