The Roots of Everything: Alternative Economies
Redefining Wealth – A Workshop17.00-20.30
Save the Date
For adults
in German/in Spanish/in English
We know that things cannot stay the way they are. Our economic system is consuming the planet and its people. Germany plays a major role in this deterioration, as it is the world's third-largest economy and fourth-largest arms exporter. It fuels global conflicts while consuming vast amounts of global resources.
In the frame of this workshop, we dare to imagine and practice alternative ways of defining wealth, doing business, and exchanging value, goods, resources, and knowledge from within the belly of the beast. What would the economic architecture of a good life for all beings on the planet look like, and how can we implement it in our own circles in this capitalist world?
Cenaida Guachagmira from the cloud forest of Intag in northern Ecuador will guide us through the session. Her community successfully expelled the world's largest copper corporation from their forest and established alternative economies. She participated in a successful lawsuit against her government for illegally selling mining concessions. "As a species, we have lost our spiritual values," she said years ago. She is now part of a community-based hydroelectric plant in her valley. Cenaida's experiences can help us redefine what value can mean. In return, she would like to better understand what motivates our lives here.
Together, we will combine our different experiences, knowledges, and visions for a more just and less exploitative future.
Capacity is limited. To join, please register by emailing rootsofeverything@posteo.de. Please tell us briefly what connects you to the workshop topic and how you can share the knowledge you gain.
The workshop will be held in Spanish and English with translation.
The evening before, starting at 18:30 in the auditorium, Cenaida Guachagmira, Carlos Zorrilla, and Tonny Nowshin will give an introductory Lecture Performance on the topic.
