The Kurdish Music Collective Berlin is an open workshop series centered on Kurdish music – created for everyone interested in exploring music as a space of cultural connection, expression, and shared learning. The project is initiated by Music For Identity gUG,in cooperation with Spore Initiative and Rojavida e.V.
What we aim to achieve:
* Access to Kurdish music through participatory workshops and collaborative music-making
* Community-building and dialogue among musicians and music lovers of all backgrounds
* Recognition and visibility for Kurdish musical traditions in Berlin
* A safe and inclusive space where everyone is welcome, regardless of experience, language, or background
* Learning together on equal footing, growing musically through exchange
Open to youth and adults aged 14 and above, regardless of musical experience or cultural background. Participation is free of charge, to ensure barrier-free access to collective music-making.
Workshop flow:
14:30–15:00 | Warm-up & Community Music
Voice and rhythm work, group interaction, movement – creating a creative and social atmosphere
15:00–16:30 | Kurdish song workshop
Explore a Kurdish song: melody, rhythm, meaning, makam, and space for improvisation
16:30–18:00 | Open music session
Free playing, experimenting, and revisiting songs from past sessions
