Israel continues to block the entry of water, food, humanitarian aid, fuel, and medicine into Gaza. International organizations call for the establishment of safe humanitarian corridors, and numerous civilian missions to deliver aid by sea have been unlawfully intercepted by Israeli forces who abducted and detained crew.
While the Blockade has intensified over the last two years of the ongoing genocide, these restrictions are not new: they date back to the 1990s and were tightened in 2006 when Hamas was elected. This November marks eighteen years of a complete siege of Gaza’s borders, airspace, and coastline.
Together with political scientist Helga Baumgarten as well as other activists, and human rights experts, we (Palästina Kampagne) will examine the history of this blockade, its political roots and devastating impact on Palestinian society, providing essential context for understanding the stakes of the present moment.
The evening will begin with readings of Palestinian poetry.
