The evening centers on a lecture by Kurdish activist Meral Çîçek, who will provide an overview of the current developments in the region. The talk will focus on the political, social, and geopolitical challenges Rojava is currently facing, situating recent events within their broader historical and political context. Particular attention will be given to the impact of regional and international power dynamics on the project of democratic self-administration.

Following the lecture, a moderated Q&A session will invite participants to ask questions and engage more deeply with the topics presented. The aim of the event is to support political education, make complex contexts accessible, and encourage an informed discussion about a region that is often underrepresented or simplified in mainstream media narratives.

In line with Spore’s commitment to education, cultural engagement, and ecosocial justice, the event connects local audiences with global political struggles and emphasizes the importance of critical, context-sensitive knowledge production.
