This discussion is part of the “Muslim Cemeteries” campaign organized by the Berlin Citizens' Platforms. The Berlin Citizens' Platforms consists of numerous associations, religious communities, and initiatives that work on topics they have chosen themselves. One of their main campaigns is pushing for more Muslim burial grounds in Berlin. Despite the fact that nearly 300,000 Muslims reside in our city, there is a shortage of Muslim burial grounds. This has repeatedly led to inhumane situations.
During the discussion, affected individuals and activists will share how the lack of Muslim cemeteries in Berlin impacts them, explain why they are dedicated to finding a solution, and describe their efforts to achieve it. Afterwards, proposed solutions and demands will be presented to political decision-makers, who will then have the opportunity to respond.
