This workshop invites artists, creatives, beginners and professionals alike, who identify as being at risk in relation to mental health, to use collage as a medium to collectively explore landscapes of the self. Open to anyone working creatively, the workshop creates a supportive space for those who are often the ones engaging critically and imaginatively with the world, yet who themselves may lack spaces of care. If artists continuously hold space for others through their work, we ask: who takes care of the artists?
We invite participants to trust the creative process and find playful yet profound ways to access inner images, memories, sensations, and the parts of ourselves that often remain hidden. Through guided collage exercises using found images, text fragments, and mixed materials, participants will move between individual making and shared reflection. No prior experience with collage is required.
The workshop offers an invitation to pause, to feel, and to encounter oneself with curiosity and compassion. Through this shared process, a space for mindfulness, care, and solidarity emerges - one in which the old can be rearranged, fragments can be reassembled, and new meanings uncovered. In this way, collage becomes both artistic and care practice.
As part of the Empowering Creative Minds project, the finished pieces will be exhibited in Luxembourg and will also be included in the traveling exhibition in Berlin and Lublin.
