This invitation-only gathering will bring together artists, researchers, writers, curators, and other cultural practitioners based in Berlin. We envision the evening as intimate, shared space where we can sit together at one table, listen to one another, and discuss our practices and experiences. The gathering will include a dinner. Participants who wish to do so are welcome to briefly introduce their work. Rather than a formal program, we are creating an open, dialogic space shaped by those who are present.

The Space Between Us reflects on what it means to produce in the diaspora and how memory, distance, displacement, and belonging influence our work and our lives. Through this first encounter, Zer hopes to begin weaving connections that can grow over time.

This is a closed event with invited guests only.

Zer is an interdisciplinary platform founded in Berlin that welcomes Kurdish women* cultural producers from around the world. Through exhibitions, screenings, archives, publications, educational programs, and network gatherings, it brings together different artistic practices. Each event is a shared space for dialogue, reflection, exchange, fostering connections and collaboration. While the initial gathering emphasizes networking and sharing practices, Zer’s overarching goal is to support, document, and amplify the voices of Kurdish women* in cultural production, creating an evolving platform for collective and individual artistic exploration. Zer was founded by rezzan gümgüm and Bilge Işık.
