Brazilian filmmaker and photographer Jorge Bodanzky will offer a workshop on documentary filmmaking for students, young filmmakers, and anyone interested in learning more about documentary cinema. The workshop will cover the language and practice of documentary cinema, its challenges, and its potential for creating transnational alliances.
Offering insights into Jorge Bodanzky’s aims of tackling social and political conflicts in a thoughtful and provocative manner, the workshop will consider how political cinema can blend documentary and fiction, as well as expand in dialog with other media and formats, such as Super 8 and German TV reports. The session, conducted in English, will feature excerpts from Bodanzky's films. In conversation with filmmaker Barbara Marcel, he will discuss his artistic choices and collaborative processes with the communities he worked with in the Amazon.
To participate, we ask you to send us a short text about your background experience and your motivation for participating in the workshop.
