For Jews around the world, the Friday evening dinner that opens Shabbat is a time to gather for rest and reflection. This monthly series invites people of all backgrounds and diverse views to come together in solidarity, respect, and rooted in the plurality in Jewish identity, German identity, and other identities in Berlin today. Together we will work through issues like anti-Palestinian racism, anti-Semitism, Zionism, memory culture, and Germany’s Staatsräson.
We have one shared table and invite you to bring a friend with different political beliefs than your own.

Evening begins promptly with brief opening remarks from an invited guest followed by shabbat prayers over candles, wine, and challah

A simple vegetarian/vegan meal will be served and then the floor is open. Guests are welcome to bring a bottle of wine or some dessert to share

Following the service, there will be an optional smaller gathering for any who wish to sit around a table together.
