Since last year, a natural garden has been created behind the Spore House, piece by piece. A wildflower meadow, fruit trees, a “Benjes”-hedge, heirloom vegetable varieties and medicinal herbs have been planted and cultivated during workshops, neighbourly gardening sessions and with guests of the Spore program. This garden is meant to link practical caring for biodiversity, free exchange of seeds, soil health, and water with stories and knowledges from partners in the Global South, such as Mayan Milpa agriculture in Yucatan. Relationships with peasant agriculture, forest gardens, creation of hybrid ecosystems, exchange between plants and soils, the relationship of "wild" and cultivated plants and their migration are topics of the guided tours with our gardener Mikhail Lylov. The walk through house and garden also relates to materials of the exhibitions on indigenous knowledge, colonial forms of exploitation and forms of defence of living relations with nature.
