RiVER holds both "river" and "re-ver," the latter being Spanish and Portuguese for "look again" or "look differently." Thinking with the river allows us to see our city anew and notice how quickly it is changing, who makes the decisions, and who is affected by them.

In five workshops in our participatory space Times in Common, we celebrate water as something that connects us all. Through drawing, mapping, storytelling, play, and the invention of new words and images for our city and its waters, we explore what can happen when people of different ages and backgrounds collaborate. No experience is necessary, just curiosity.

The workshop is facilitated by periferias dibujadas, Spanish for "drawn peripheries," a project by educator, researcher, and curator Kitti Baracsi. It explores how cities change and the conflicts that arise along the way, creating spaces where children, young people, and intergenerational groups can research, narrate, and creatively shape their urban surroundings. The August 22 workshop is aimed at artists and educators and offers insight into methods inspired by critical and pluriversal pedagogies and performative community art.
