Just a Child
by: Mohammad al-Azza
Just a Child directed by Palestinian photographer and refugee Mohammed Al Azza (Aida Camp), will be screened for the first time in Germany. Obeida is directed by Matthew Cassel. Both tell the stories of two abducted children caught in the Israeli system of incarceration and the impact the detention has on their families.
For the discussion after, we welcome representatives from Amnesty International to discuss the broader context including Germany complicity in these human rights violations, as well as Addameer, the specialist Palestinian prisoners’ rights organization based in Ramallah. They will provide an update on the urgent work they are doing to advocate for the victims of violence, give insights into the brutal conditions suffered by detainees in Israeli military prisons, and discuss ways how their causes can be supported internationally.
Speakers:
Sahar Francis – Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association
Katja Fahlbusch – Amnesty International (Germany)
More speakers and moderation to be confirmed in the coming days.
The event is organized by Palestine Campaign.
The films are in Arabic with English subtitles, and the moderation and discussion are in German with English input. Whisper translation available.
