Western Sahara has been called “Africa's last colony”.
And what is happening there is also one of the most overlooked conflicts on the planet.

Writers and journalists Ebbaba Hameida (Tindouf refugee camps, 1992) and Laura Casielles (Asturias, Spain, 1986) will reveal the history and present of Western Sahara and the struggle for self-determination of the Sahrawi people through their two recently published books, Flores de papel (Papierblumen) and Arena en los ojos (Sand in the Eyes): two books in dialogue with each other.
The writers will discuss their work, and discuss a colonial conflict that is now 50 years old. During the conversation, the authors will focus on the life and resistance of Sahrawi women, as well as the responsibility of colonising societies, such as Spain in this case, where much work remains to be done in terms of memory, justice and reparation.
This event is an opportunity to travel with some of its protagonists to the heart of an unresolved conflict, and thus learn more about the campaigns of support and solidarity for the Sahrawi people in Berlin.
