A Narrative Dinner inspired by the folktale Stone Soup, in which a pair of travelers, with nothing but a stone, awaken the curiosity and generosity of a community to cook a soup together. In this gathering, we revisit that symbolic gesture to ask ourselves: What is it that we have in abundance and can share? How do we welcome the stranger and the unknown at our table?
Time, listening, ingredients, stories. We invite participants to bring and share something that connects them to their territories or reminds them of home: a memory, a recipe, seeds, ingredients. Each contribution becomes part of a shared story—one of cooking, eating, and storytelling rooted in collaboration, trust, and imagination.
The cooking session will be grounded in their Oaxacan family culinary roots, as well as in the various experiences of Dea López and Emilio Hernández Martínez participating in various projects that explore participation, communality, and hosting as acts of care.
The event is part of the Kitchen Talks series.
