In light of the ongoing national strike and the alarming human rights situation in Ecuador, this gathering seeks to create a space for solidarity and reflection in Berlin. The event aims to build a bridge between those fighting for justice in Ecuador and those who wish to stand with them from afar — offering a moment to listen, share, and act collectively.
Through an open discussion and a live connection with comrades in Ecuador, we will hear first-hand experiences of the current repression and the social struggles unfolding under Daniel Noboa’s government. The evening will also feature the short film 1922 by Libertad Gills, which revisits the historical workers’ massacre of November 15, 1922. Drawing on preserved footage from the Ecuadorian National Cinematheque and international films from the same year, 1922 reimagines cinema as a space of resistance and solidarity, linking the workers’ struggles of the past with those of today.
After the screening, participants are invited to an open conversation, followed by food, music, and a solidarity fundraiser to support people affected by police and military brutality.
Organized by SoliSur Berlin within the framework of Encounters of Solidarity and Resistance, the event welcomes everyone concerned with social and political justice to come together, learn, and share collective strength.
