The Colombia Migrante Film Festival (FCCM) is an international cultural initiative dedicated to raising awareness, promoting, and supporting the creation of spaces for remembrance through film and audiovisual productions. Its focus is on narrating the complexity of migration among Colombians both within and outside their homeland, in collaboration with organizations of exiles, migrants, and allies committed to peace in Colombia.
Under the theme “Dreamed-of Territories,” the festival invites reflection on how imagining and dreaming are fundamental practices for continuing to build peace in Colombia. In this context, imagining becomes a way to open up new languages and possibilities for reparations, memory, and non-repetition. From this perspective, and ten years after the signing of the Peace Agreement, the theme seeks to foster dialogue between Colombia and the Colombian diaspora, recognizing how many people continue to imagine, dream, and build the country even from a distance. Thus,“Colombia outside of Colombia” emerges as a possible territory, woven together through memories, affections, acts of resistance, and bonds that continue to connect communities both within and outside the country, and that continue to fuel processes of reparation and collective reconstruction.

The discomfort grows until it becomes a personal crisis that drives her to try to erase from herself everything that connects her to her culture. Isolated in her apartment, the conflict erupts. The makeup won’t come off, the thread persists, and the memory returns. In an obsessive impulse, she begins to weave, hurting herself, unraveling and rebuilding, until the act ceases to be a punishment and becomes a revelation. Synopsis: During the National Strike that began on April 28, 2021—a period marked by escalating urban conflict and institutional violence—citizens in Santiago de Cali organized various forms of civil resistance. Among these initiatives, the Popular and Community Libraries stood out—alternative spaces that sprang up from the ruins of former Immediate Assistance Centers (CAI) run by the National Police. This transformation redefined infrastructures originally intended for state surveillance and control, turning them into hubs for art, community education, and collective memory. The creation of these popular libraries constituted an act of symbolic resistance against oppression and social injustice. In this crisis-ridden context, reading, oral tradition, and writing functioned as essential political tools. These practices of written and oral culture provided fundamental tools for the defense of life, neighborhood empowerment, and the reconstruction of the social fabric in these communities.
