We are extremely pleased to host the wonderful author, poet, and friend, Leila Boukarim, who infuses her work with a fierce commitment to justice, as well as a delicate attention to the mending of hearts both young and old.
The picture book “Lost Words: An Armenian Story of Survival and Hope” has been many years in the making — eight years after Leila’s eldest asked her where he’s really from. Join us to learn about the unfolding of this story and Leila’s quest for the words that reflect her husband’s family’s experience and bloom through the prism of Sona Avedikian's rich and tender illustrations.
Hosted by ARI Jugendverband and Café Arakil with a Q&A by Ararat Berlin. Followed by a concert and evening of poetry organized by ARI Jugendverband and dedicated to all who fell in the genocide and to our collective struggle for a better future.
