From the Berlinale scandals to the cancellation of the German Book Trade Prize ceremony, the cultural landscape is under attack and the atmosphere is tense. However, drastic cuts to the arts offer profound insights into broader societal changes: How can we redefine what gives us security in an increasingly harsh socio-cultural and political climate? How should we talk about solidarity and alliances, about uniting and defending ourselves?
In two large-scale, interdisciplinary panel discussions Antonia Alampi, Abdalrahman Alqalaq, Deborah Feldman, Madhumita Nandi, Anja Quickert, Myropi-Margarita Tsomou, Mario Neumann, Eva Yakubovska, Amelie Deuflhard, Jean Peters, and Lea Voigt analyze the status quo and present their visions for new forms of solidarity.
