Pakistan stands on the frontline of the climate catastrophe. From melting glaciers to extreme shifts in temperature, the country is acutely vulnerable to a warming planet. Floods have repeatedly devastated its rivers, landscapes and communities. Yet while Pakistan contributes less than 1% of global emissions, thousands of people and animals, homes and ecosystems are left to bear the consequences.
This stark imbalance between responsibility and impact lies at the heart of Sangam ~ Confluence ~ Zusammenfluss, a three-part series curated by the Darya Dost collective.
Through dialogue, film, art, performance and food, Sangam brings communities together to reflect on climate change and the deeply uneven ways in which its effects are felt.
At the same time, the series asks how rivers can connect people across borders, and how, in the face of catastrophe, new forms of solidarity might emerge.
