The series Biomes, Bodies, and Beyond: Indigenous Arts in Movement focuses on biomes as living territories inhabited by human and non-human bodies, shaped by both ancestral and contemporary histories and memories. These are spaces where physical, vegetal, and spiritual health are deeply interconnected. Led by Indigenous artists Ziel Karapotó, Olinda Tupinambá, and Lilly Baniwa—hailing respectively from the Caatinga, Atlantic Forest, and Amazon biomes in Brazil—the program includes a participatory workshop, and a live performance centered on Toré, a traditional Indigenous ritual of spiritual, cultural, and political significance in many communities across the Brazilian Northeast. Toré plays a vital role in practices of resistance, healing, and the affirmation of collective identity. The series also features a screening of short films by the artists, exploring themes of territory, ecology, spirituality, and resistance.
