On February 21st, come learn the basics of frame-by-frame animation and create a collective film in solidarity with Palestine.
Hosted at Spore Initiative in cooperation with Palinale festival, this 2-hour workshop will invite participants into the magic of animation storytelling, and work to create a collective film in solidarity with the people of occupied Palestine. Local animation filmmaker, Daniel, will guide participants into the basics of stop-motion photography, the illusion of motion, and special effects.
In the second hour, each participant will create a short animation that will be part of a larger collective film on the theme “Wishing for Palestine”.
The final collective film will be screened at the evening Palinale X Palestine is Still Animated screening at 19:30 at Spore. It will also be published on the Palinale social media channels.
No previous experience necessary. Participants must have access to a working smartphone/tablet with camera. All other supplies are provided.
Age: 12+
Registration necessary through Google Form.
This event is a fundraiser, and all donations will go toward the animation project by Haneen Koraz and her teams in Deir el-Balah. Their collective has been facilitating animation workshops for children and women in the Gaza strip throughout the genocide. Participants aged 12-15 must be accompanied by a guardian of aged 18 or older.
