Gardens can be found all over the world, from cities to the countryside, and in places like balconies, rooftops, and backyards. Gardens are excellent settings for global learning and education for sustainable development. They also play a central role in picture books from around the world.
In gardens, biodiversity and cultural diversity converge; the old meet the young, and traditions meet fairy tales. Stories about gardens and seeds in picture books are wonderful for working with children.
In this workshop, we’ll travel around the world with the help of picture books and follow the journey of seeds. Authors and illustrators from various countries have found diverse ways to express their fascination with seeds.
This workshop is based on the publication A Picture Book Journey, published by the Spore Initiative. Together, we’ll discover picture books from around the world about seeds and develop ideas for using them in practice.
If you work with children and young people and are interested in diverse picture books for group activities, please email us at mariela.n@spore-initiative.org.
Johanna Lochner will lead the workshop, which will be held in German.
