Open Soil Atlas is a soil counter-mapping project led by citizen scientists, initiated in Berlin in 2021 by members of the permaculture community Feld Food Forest.
For the event Between Soil Biographies and Soil Testing, participants from a variety of backgrounds are invited to bond over soil testing and sharing stories that connect us to the soil. Participants will first take part in a group conversation, after which Open Soil Atlas ambassadors will guide them through the soil analysis process. This will be a hands-on outdoor activity. Each participant will be provided with a soil test toolkit and a soil protocol.
Open Soil Atlas aims to bring people together and cross-pollinate soil knowledge. The meet-up follows a series of collective experiences on urban soil carried out in recent years in Europe and South America.
To register for the event, send a confirmation email to opensoilatlas@feldfoodforest.org. by Monday, 16 June 2025.
The maximum number of participants is 20.
The event is open to everyone, no prior knowledge of the soil is required.
