Afro.Brasil.Berlim: Revisitando Arquivos. Conectando Narrativas.

Essa oficina participativa é voltada especialmente para afro-brasileiros que moram em Berlim e pessoas interessadas em experimentar, em conjunto, estratégias de como lidar com as lacunas e omissões nos arquivos coloniais.

Na primeira parte da oficina, vamos trabalhar com fotos e objetos de coleções afro-brasileiras em Berlim. Com esses materiais, os participantes vão criar narrativas e releituras críticas sobre trajetórias de vida, relacionamentos e pertencimentos.

Na segunda parte, imagens, textos e objetos serão entrelaçados para formar novas histórias.

Por meio de um mapeamento coletivo, vamos discutir as possibilidades  e como novos rastros podem ser deixados — em Berlim e além daqui.

A oficina será facilitada por Suelen Calonga, Lucio Telles, Frauke Zabel, e Laura Kemmer. 

Damos prioridade a participantes de comunidades afro-brasileiras e com conhecimento prévio sobre coleções, arquivos e histórias afro-brasileiras em Berlim e em outros lugares.

What traces of Afro-Brazilian history and contemporary life can be found in Berlin? How are people, objects, and places connected?

This participatory workshop invites especially Afro-Brazilians living in Berlin, as well as anyone interested in working together to explore strategies for addressing the gaps and omissions of colonial archives. 

In the first part of the workshop, we will work with photographs and ethnological objects that are cataloged as Afro-Brazilian artifacts in Berlin’s archives. Drawing on these diverse materials, which are dislocated in Berlin museums, we invent contexts, self-designations, and our own narratives about possible life paths, relationships, and affiliations. 

In the second part of the workshop, the photographs, objects, and imagined contexts will be woven together into new narratives. By collectively situating ourselves within Berlin’s urban space and beyond, we aim to discuss existing and potential traces of these narratives in Berlin and beyond. 

The workshop will be facilitated by Suelen Calonga, Lucio Telles, Frauke Zabel, and Laura Kemmer. 

We prioritize participants from Afro-Brazilian communities and with prior knowledge about Afro-Brazilian collections, archives, and histories in Berlin and beyond.
