Planting forest gardens with contributions from the Rehfelde Forest Garden and the Berlin-Britz Urban Forest Garden.
In the Spore Garden, we want to create a nature-based garden that serves diverse human and more-than-human communities. These include a variety of flowers for wild bees and bumblebees, mixed crops that complement each other, shrubs and hedges that serve as habitats for insects and birds, healthy vegetables to eat, plants that loosen the soil and enrich it with nitrogen, promoting the diverse life of bacteria and fungi in the soil. We follow the idea of a forest garden, which imitates the ecosystem in a forest and regulates itself, forming closed cycles. In a forest garden, food is grown not just side by side in beds, but one on top of the other in a herb, shrub and tree layer. We will begin the gardening season at the Spore Garden by planting three trees and sharing on the idea of a forest garden.
