mark your calendar! We cordially invite you to celebrate the book release of First Rain Poetry, Stefanie-Lahya Aukongo’s first English-language poetry collection.
The collection is part of the “Witnessed” book series, edited by Sharon Dodua Otoo, recipient of the 2016 Ingeborg Bachmann Prize, and published by Edition Assemblage.
First Rain Poetry is a multifaceted collection of poems exploring self_love, societal power relations, grief, dis_ability, queerness, and healing. Lahya’s texts bring personal experience into dialogue with social reflection, moving between vulnerability and resistance, pain and hope, intimacy and political responsibility.
Lahya will read parts of the book to you and - along with Sharon Dodua Otoo and some of First Rain Poetry's accomplices - will answer all your questions. Of course you can grab your copy with an autograph right then and there!
