Maroon Rhythms
Dance and Resistance in Movement

Afro-Colombian dances connect us with the history of resistance and struggle of a people who were enslaved. The Maroons, fleeing from the slave-owning haciendas, joined forces in building a dream of freedom. To dance is to reflect in movement, to bring our ancestors to life and share their stories. Through the rhythm of drums and dance, we will feel and connect with the history of resistance of the Maroon peoples. This workshop is aimed at all curious adults who wish to learn, through movement, about the history of the Afro Peoples in Latin America.
