“Violence is violence.” It is enabled and marked by racism, classism and patriarchal structures, among other forms of discrimination. For example, it manifests itself in racist police violence, precarious working conditions and sexualized violence. This violence is often downplayed or overlooked in society.
The theatre performance KEINE MEHR was created in cooperation with Women in Exile, GKB Bundesverband der Migrantinnen e.V. and Wildwasser e.V.. In this piece, three women share their empowering struggle and their demands. They are survivors and experts, active in different feminist contexts, some of them working with other survivors to share their expertise to empower them.
These women’s exchange of experiences and joint discussions are the foundation of the play KEINE MEHR by Bühne für Menschenrechte. By telling their stories, they show their resilience and agency. In doing so, they subvert common victim narratives that are often reproduced in the media and politics. KEINE MEHR is more than a documentary theatre performance; it is a call for solidarity with those affected by patriarchal violence.
Their words are brought to the stage by three actors who lend them their voices. The music is composed by DJ Kat Kat Tat (r a n d o m). In January 2022, KEINE MEHR celebrated its Berlin premiere. After over 40 performances, KEINE MEHR is now coming back to Berlin. Each performance is followed by an audience discussion in which activists discuss the content of the performance and talk about their own work.
