In honor of her Kuwaiti pearl diving heritage, Reem becomes an ancient mermaid, calling from the depths of the Indian Ocean. Through voice, live instrumentation, and story, she weaves a ritual that evokes a time in which we lived in harmony with the rhythms of the sea and the Earth.

In a climate of ecological and political grief, she asks: how do we reclaim our collective agency? In response, she offers her voice as a space to imagine new, hopeful possibilities for our shared future.

Devoted to reviving ancestral modes of storytelling, she allows the story to become a living vibration through which we can connect, travel, and transform.

Come to listen, reimagine, hope, connect.

Come to remember why we are here.

This performance is presented as part of Reem Alfahad’s Master’s thesis in Spatial Strategies at Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin.
