In a society that is increasingly characterized by post-migrant realities, the examination of cultures of remembrance is becoming particularly relevant. What mechanisms of collective memory exist? How do they influence our current society and political discourse? What responsibility does Germany bear, both historically and in the current context?

The aim of the event is to anchor the examination of historical crimes as an integral part of post-migrant politics of remembrance and to contribute to an inclusive and intersectional culture of remembrance.

The two-part symposium will bring together memorial initiatives, representatives of civil society organizations, academics, activists and cultural workers. The aim is to jointly develop new perspectives on remembrance, responsibility and activism in the context of massive human rights violations. The focus is on the question of how these can be anchored and carried forward in today's society.
