Barbara Santos’ and Till Baumann’s artistic productions are the result of investigative processes on Aesthetics of the Oppressed based on Sound/Rhythm, Image/Movement and Word/Text, which promote the discovery of creative potentialities and the development of an autonomous and critical view on society. The artistic productions aim to combine aesthetic research in a contextual approach, collective learning and concrete and continuous social actions.   

The KURINGA Forum Theater plays stage questions which challenge the life of different social groups in order to promote active and horizontal dialogue within society. The KURINGA Forum sessions aim to avoid individualistic perspectives and stimulate the audience to come together and experience collective strategies searching for overcoming the oppression represented on stage considering each one’s real social position in life (genders, social class, profession and so on).  

The Aesthetics of the Oppressed is a set of activities. It aims at dismantling the oppressive system’s strategy of influencing and convincing oppressed women and men that they are incapable of creating, producing, deciding, so they should be content to consume. The Aesthetics of the Oppressed is an exercise of freedom that stimulates the creative and critical production of culture and knowledge.
