On January 19, 2007, the Armenian journalist Hrant Dink was murdered in Istanbul. As editor-in-chief of the Agos newspaper, he consistently addressed the issue of the Armenian genocide and the responsibility of its perpetrators, while also campaigning for reconciliation between the Armenian and Turkish populations.
His positive influence on society made him a target. Hrant Dink's values, his patient struggle, and his inclusive discourse—which has the potential to bring about change in all parts of society—deserve to be remembered today more than ever. At a time when his murderer has been released and his antagonists continue their work undisturbed, with the entire charade continuing under the guise of justice, AKEBİ wants to declare its ongoing struggle and commemorate Hrant Dink on January 19, 2025, at 5 p.m.
This event is organised in collaboration with AKEBİ and Café Arakil.
AKEBİ aims to combat racist, nationalist, sexist and discriminatory approaches and practices in Germany and among migrants from Turkey. It organizes actions against racism, nationalism and discrimination of any kind in accordance with its political principles and works to create awareness in society in line with these principles.
