The drinking water supply in Dêrik had been severely impacted by repeated attacks from the Turkish army, which destroyed key infrastructure in the region. Together with the residents of Dêrik, we have created a pilot solution that could be used in other districts as well.

In addition to the project's technical advancements, we aim to shed light on the political and ecological context—how regional water policies and climate change affect the area. Representatives from the Dêrik Water Authority, along with the scientist Şermin Güven (Disaster Research Unit/FU-Berlin), will provide insight into the current water crisis in Rojava. Meanwhile, the Make Rojava Green Again initiative and Dr. Günther Kleff will explore the background and the need for such pilot projects in Rojava.

We especially invite Berlin environmental initiatives to join us and representatives from Dêrik/North and East Syria, as well as the Make Rojava Green Again initiative, to discuss the significance of this project and next steps.
