Why are techniques of cutting, splicing, banding, binding and pruning often associated with “cultivation” and “refinement” of vegetal life? Although the disciplinary approach to gardening looses popularity to the views articulated in terms of care and co-habitation, basic garden tools are still made of sharpened metal. Does this fact of material culture say anything about the ideas behind the notion of cultivation? Yet, what could be the cases, when use of these tools is justified?
Let’s discuss our approaches and attitudes to these questions on the 23rd of February.
In the practical part of the workshop we will closely look and evaluate the condition and health of fruit trees in the area of Spore garden and make decisions regarding pruning interventions.
