At a time when so much is breaking, when landscapes across Palestine and Lebanon are under attack and displacement continues, we gather around what still grows. Through foraging, cooking and shared stories, this workshop will connect diasporic communities to the plants, recipes and memories of Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan, as well as to other ecologies.

The workshop unfolds in two parts:

Foraging: We begin by foraging in the Spore Garden and the surrounding area, encountering the wild plants that grow in the cracks of the earth, beneath hidden surfaces and in the fields. We trace their botanical relatives across different regions.

Collective cooking: We prepare dishes inspired by our ancestors and family traditions, using what we have gathered. This space is especially important for reconnecting and spending time together.

We would especially like to welcome  families living in the diaspora with a connection to Palestine, Lebanon; Jordan and Syria as this workshop specifically looks at plants from this region.

Other communities / people living in diaspora, who feel disconnected from their Indigenous Lands and can take the workshop as an opportunity to reconnect, rebuild their memory and curiosity about wild plants.

This workshop is being organized and offered by Fighting Seeds.
