We are pleased to announce the fifth edition of Anti-Colonial Film Night at Spore Initiative, a screening series organized by the Jewish Bund and AL.Berlin.
Join us as we come together to watch and discuss anti-colonial films from around the world and the revolutionary struggles they represent.
Each screening features one or more local political groups or activists, who will lead the discussion by linking the themes of the film to our current realities and struggles. These discussions will bring together diverse anti-colonial perspectives at this shared juncture of empire and capital. We envisage these encounters as spaces for collective learning, questioning and reflection, and as an invitation to engage more deeply by supporting the participating groups’ work, actions and initiatives.

Osama is a powerful Afghan drama, directed by Siddiq Barmak, which is set during the Taliban regime. The story follows a young girl who, after her father and brother are killed in the war and her mother loses her job at a hospital, must disguise herself as a boy named Osama in order to survive. As her family consists only of women with no male relatives to support them, she cuts her hair, puts on boys' clothes, and finds work delivering milk. In light of the recent arrest of Noria, also known as Noor Ahmad, in the Ghor province for a similar offence, raising awareness is more important than ever. AfgActivistCollective will provide insights into the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan, as well as the catastrophic situation at its borders and beyond.
We, the organizers, are collecting donations to evacuate comrades' families from Pakistan, a country that has violently deported people from Afghanistan over the last two years. We are raising funds to support their relocation.
