In this workshop, we will explore water – one of the most important elements of life – in various forms: clouds as "liquid air" and devices known as "cloud catchers" that serve to make clouds rain. Water pipes, found in nature and in homes, gardens, villages, or cities, are used to direct or distribute water from one place to another. Sponges, both as living organisms and as plastic, can absorb and store water. And our bodies, which are also a bit like clouds, pipes, and sponges, take in, release, collect, and transport water – without water, nothing would function...
What will we do? Everyone is invited to ask questions, share knowledge and experiences, and explore how water allows us to observe, paint, craft, film, move, tell stories, and listen. We will start with our bodies, feeling where we can perceive water within them or imagining it. How do bodily fluids move when we move? And how do we move when we let ourselves be inspired by water in nature (… like a whirlpool, like a wave, like a still pond, etc.)? How do we move together, in pairs, threes, or as a group, when we imagine we are connected by water? And aren’t we really?
How much water is in the air today ("humidity")? Do you see clouds? When did it last rain? Next, we will create smaller and larger "cloud catchers" and build an exhibition with them. What stories do you know that are about water? What experiences have you had with water? What would you like to do with water and in water in the future? We will share all of this, collect the stories, write, draw, and paint.
Finally, we will add a few objects related to water or that we can bring into contact with water. We will connect these, the stories, drawings, and images together, build channels of information, collection basins, and move ourselves and the objects for the final phase of the workshop. Some of us will film what happens, and from the footage, we will create a clip that we can show to our friends and families.
