This Open Reading Group session will be dedicated to the book of the month Fresh Banana Leaves: Healing Indigenous Landscapes through Indigenous Science. In this groundbreaking work, Indigenous environmental scientist Jessica Hernandez draws on the long-standing knowledges and experiences of land protectors to confront settler colonialism and Western conservatism in science, advocating for Indigenous sciences as transformative pathways to food, climate, and environmental justice.
As we engage with the text, we will reflect on the intersections of eco-colonialism, displacement, and epistemic domination, while envisioning what restorative relationships with the Earth might look like.
You can register for this event via mail to: mariela.n@spore-initiative.org until January 22nd.
The Open Reading Group is led by Mariangela Beccoi.
