Anajara Amarante will talk about the snake, a giver of cross-species energy in the Krahô tradition. Krahô is an Indigenous people of northeastern Brazil. The Chinese Wood Snake signifies an immigrant in Chinese colloquial language.

Anajara will share how to craft a snake from fabric scraps that would otherwise be discarded. The young participants of the Lab will share their knowledges and feelings about time and relationships to nature, their longings and belongings trough diverse formats and materials: drawing with candle ashes, printing memory cards with feet, writing poetry.

Time, all bodies and their perceptions of time are non-linear. Maybe like the movements of the snake. Snake and immigrants are shedding skin, changing lands, making a difference, leaving the traces.

The participants of My Secret Heart is Longing will create a space with different sitting and lying options. So that participation in the event is as accessible as possible for you. You can lie down on the carpet crafted from different fabrics. The variety of fabric’s textures and surfaces resembles mosses, plants, and shores.

Or you can relax on the beanbag with many pillows or move around and listen to the stories about snake and time.

You are very welcome to bring your fabrics for snake crafting, your stories, poetry about time, snakes and other creations and of course to craft and co-craft snakes.
