Ecologías del futuro

What was this place like before, and what will it maybe be like in 300 years? And what if, inspired by other cultures and world visions, we saw time as a cycle rather than a line running forward? In this workshop week we will accompany the children in a discovery of the gardens surrounding Spore House through sensory, artistic and playful exercises, and by facilitating the opening up of their imaginations by shifting spatial and temporal scales. During this exploration, we will call on experts who will talk to us more about different aspects of the place and its inhabitants.

In the second phase of the workshop week, we will ask ourselves questions about the future of the place: Who will live here in the future? How will its inhabitants organize themselves? What kind of habitat will they live in? What will they eat? How will they communicate? What relationships will they have with this place and its other inhabitants?

Based on these explorations, the participants will build characters and settings that we will then relate to each other as we write collective stories together. These stories will be presented in the form of short films, which will be a combination of hand-made film and stop motion created by the children.

The results will be shown - in consultation with the children - shown to parents and friends, on Sunday afternoon.

The Ecologías del Futuro team speak German, English, French, Italian, Spanish and a little Turkish. So, please get in touch with us if you would like to take part in the workshop, even if German is not your mothertongue, we wil try to accomodate different languages.

******

Ecologías del Futuro is a nomadic project born between Germany, Tunisia and Mexico. It springs from questions around climate change and political ecology, as well as the need to rethink the relationships between human beings and between human and non-human beings. Ecologías del Futuro takes the form of a series of collective science fiction film workshops from which emerge mainly short films, but also texts, comics and podcasts. We are constantly weaving networks, especially with allied projects and those close to us, beyond the major centers of cultural production and offer. In this way, we want to contribute to shifting the production of ideas about the future, which is increasingly concentrated in and appropriated by the so-called global North.

Since 2018, we have been organizing projects in rural and urban spaces and different contexts in Mexico, Italy, Germany, Spain and Tunisia, involving children, young people and adults: students, activists, scientists, artists, musicians and citizens of all ages who feel that the theme is relevant to them.
