Based on the publication, A Picture Book Journey, published by Spore Initiative, we will explore picture books from around the world about gardens and discuss ways to use them.
Gardens can be found everywhere – in cities and in the countryside, on balconies and roofs, in backyards and in school grounds. They provide ideal spaces for global learning and education for sustainable development and are at the heart of picture books from around the world. Biodiversity meets cultural diversity. Old people meet young people. Traditions meet fairy tales. Stories about crops, seeds and gardening in picture books are ideal for working with children.
But what role do biological and cultural diversity play in children's books? What potential and necessity do they offer? These and other questions will be addressed in this training programme.
If you work with children and young people and if you are interested in diverse picture books for group activities, you can register at mariela.n@spore-initiative.org.
The seminar will be led by Johanna Lochner and will be held in German.
