On the necessity for a plurality of discourse in cultural institutions.
As a cultural organization in Berlin Neukölln, we commit to actively oppose all forms of discrimination, whether anti-Arab, anti-Muslim or antisemitic.
Cultural organizations bear an urgent responsibility to nurture safe spaces for exchange, dialogue, and collective healing - while protecting freedom of expression and a diversity of views with respect, fostering educational and community work with depth, and advocating for the fundamental right to live with dignity.
Plurality of discourse is essential – now more than ever - to the work we and many other cultural organizations set out to do and will continue to pursue. We stand in solidarity with Oyoun, and others who are impacted by the ongoing repressions in Berlin.
As part of our commitment, we extend an invitation to those whose voices are being silenced in Berlin. We commit to listening, facilitating, and encouraging spaces for dialogue, with honesty, solidarity, empathy, and care.
